Theres plenty of vendors out there offering canvas printing and stretching, but why should you choose us? In this article I am going to try and convince you on why we are the best in Singapore.
High Quality Canvas
We believe in leveraging the best quality canvases available which is why the majority of our canvases are imported from a German supplier called Hahnemuhle. They are the global market leader in the production of archival grade fine art media. They have 444 years of history and all of their papers and canvases can be found online with detailed specifications and certifications.
We are the only vendor in Singapore that is leveraging such a high quality canvas. Many other printers will leverage phrases like “high quality” , “archival”, and “fine art” or tell you that they buy from the United States, but they don’t advertise who exactly they buy their canvases from. This is likely because they are buying private label brands or from brands that have no marketable reputation within the industry.
Using high quality canvases ensures the best quality output and the longest lifespan.
Premium Hahnemuhle Varnish Coating
All of our canvas prints are coated using official Hahnemuhle varnishes. The addition of the varnish enhances the colours of your prints and also protects them from dirt, dust, and fungals that are likely to raise their head in humid climates such as Singapore.
We don’t use cheap, non-brand varnishes, but the premium varnish directly from Hahnemuhle which has been specially formulated to work best with their canvases.
Hahnemuhle Gold Certified Studio
We are the first and only Hahnemuhle Certified Gold Studio in Singapore. To achieve this certification we must (a) print on a high volume of Hahnemuhle media during a 24 month cycle, and (b) show our skills and commitment to consistently producing high quality prints.
We are proud to be able to point to external certification as validation of our print quality and the volume of prints that we produce.
Latest Print Technology
We are constantly investing in our printing technology and personal skills to improve our output. We were the very first print studio in Singapore to acquire the brand new Canon Pro-566 printer in 2024, upgrading from the previous model we acquired in 2021.
This 12 colour giclee printer brings Canon’s latest upgrades which further enhances the quality of our prints. The new inks for example can last up to 200 years and have improved scratch resistance vs. the earlier models.
Proper Colour Management Workflow
Getting colour accurate prints requires a level of competency and technical know-how that many print studios are struggling to maintain.
Firstly, you need a properly calibrated monitor. If your monitor doesn’t have a wide colour gamut and isn’t properly calibrated then whatever you see on your screen is unlikely to be an accurate representation of what is going to come out the printer. All of our monitors are specifically purchased due to their wide colour gamut and are regularly calibrated.
Secondly, we have created custom ICC profiles for every canvas on our own printer. This ensures that what we are seeing on our monitor vs. what is going to come out of our specific printers is going to be the same.
You can always ask your printer if they can send you their custom ICC profiles for the media you intend to print on. These can be uploaded to your computer and leveraged in popular tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. If your printer can’t supply these files then its a good sign that they may not have a proper colour management workflow in place.
High Quality Stretcher Wood
The quality of the printer, the inks, the canvas, and the varnish is important, but so is the quality of the wood in which the canvas print is stretched upon. We use solid pine wood specially created for usage in canvas stretching. It will not suffer from rot or warping over time.
Our team is experienced in the process of stretching to ensure they are tight and will not sag over time. We also don’t cut corners and will always add in support bars when necessary to ensure structural stability.
Support Local
There is a lot of companies offering cheap canvas printing in Google that appear to be local companies, but in reality they aren’t. This means the timelines are likely to be extended. We handle every step of production in Singapore in our own premises. We would greatly appreciate your support of a local, Singapore based business.
