Theres plenty of vendors out there offering art and photo printing, but why should you choose us? In this article I am going to try and convince you on why we are the best in Singapore.
High Quality Papers
We believe in leveraging the best quality papers available which is why the majority of our papers are imported from a German supplier called Hahnemuhle. They are the global market leader in the production of archival grade fine art media. They have over 440 years of history and all of their papers and canvases can be found online with detailed specifications and certifications.
We are the only vendor in Singapore that is leveraging such a high quality papers and yet our prices are comparable if not cheaper at various sizes. Many other printers will leverage phrases like “high quality” , “archival”, and “fine art”, but they don’t advertise who exactly they buy their papers from. This is likely because they are buying private label brands or from brands that have no marketable reputation within the industry.
Using high quality papers ensures the best quality output and the longest lifespan.
Hahnemuhle Gold Certified Studio
We are the first and only Hahnemuhle Certified Gold Studio in Singapore. To achieve this certification we must (a) print on a high volume of Hahnemuhle media during a 24 month cycle, and (b) show our skills and commitment to consistently producing high quality prints.
We are proud to be able to point to external certification as validation of our print quality and the volume of prints that we produce.
Knowledgeable Printers
Many print studios expect you to be an expert in producing print ready files and therefore just print whatever you send them even if they know beforehand that the outcome will not be good. In our experience, even professional photographers and graphic designers often don’t know the ins-and-outs of how to provide suitable ready-to-print files. Theres no shame in this, that is why you engage a professional print studio.
We review every prospective image we receive and will advise of any issues and seek to provide solutions where needed. The most common situations:
- Your image size and resolution is much smaller than the size you want to print at – we can usually solve this for you.
- Your image ratio [the height vs. width or vice versa] requires some cropping to meet your desired size – we would raise this and make suggestions.
- Your image vs. the paper you proposed may not produce the best results – we’d at least make you aware and propose some possible alternatives.
Only when everyone is happy that the print file is ready to go will we take payment from a customer.
Latest Print Technology
We are constantly investing in our printing technology and personal skills to improve our output. We were the very first print studio in Singapore to acquire the brand new Canon Pro-566 printer in 2024, upgrading from the previous model we acquired in 2021.
This 12 colour giclee printer brings Canon’s latest upgrades which further enhances the quality of our prints. The new inks for example can last up to 200 years and have improved scratch resistance vs. the earlier models.
Proper Colour Management Workflow
Getting colour accurate prints requires a level of competency and technical know-how that many print studios are struggling to maintain.
Firstly, you need a properly calibrated monitor. If your monitor doesn’t have a wide colour gamut and isn’t properly calibrated then whatever you see on your screen is unlikely to be an accurate representation of what is going to come out the printer. All of our monitors are specifically purchased due to their wide colour gamut and are regularly calibrated.
Secondly, we have created custom ICC profiles for every paper on our own printers. This ensures that what we are seeing on our monitor vs. what is going to come out of our specific printers is going to be the same.
You can always ask other printers if they can send you their custom ICC profiles for the media they intend to print your image on. These can be uploaded to your computer and leveraged in popular tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. If your printer can’t supply these files then its a good sign that they may not have a proper colour management workflow in place.
